I love having friends (and sometimes one or two small friends) over in my studio. It is super fun to share from my stash, sometimes papers and sometimes other materials. This was a sewing day. And since I have a lovely collection of pretty fabrics, that’s what we took out (though I might have kept a few new and more expensive fat quarters out of “harms way”). Two kids and one grown up visiting got to pick through my very girly collection of patterns and chose a few favorites…
We did impromptu fabric collage in a quilty kind of way. It was a good day in the studio.
I love my pretty fabric stash! Each time I look at it I wish I sewed more often.
The girls cut out fabrics, pinned them to a backing (just a plain fabric) and then we sewed them in place. Zig-zagity all around.
I helped with the sewing a bit, since they youngest one got tired of sewing after a while. Though I think she did a great job for being only 6 years old.
Candy sugar rush helped keep the mood up. But after a while two very pretty totes were finished:

I believed they could sew awesome tote bags for themselves – even though this was sewing on the machine for the first time. And of course they could! Because sewing is easy and fun, and if everything doesn’t line up it doesn’t matter much in the end. It’s the process there that is most important.
